Arcos de Valdevez Hospital de S(an) Jose Emergency Notes 5; 10; 20; 30; 50 Centavos ND circa 1920s AU-UNC with the clause, "SE ES AMIGO DO BEM INUTILISA ESTA CEDULA" on the back that translates as, "If you are a friend of the 'good' destroy this note". This issue was used as small change at the hospital. If you obeyed the clause, and destroyed the note, you were in effect giving the hospital (the good) a donation.
